Fernando Alonso defeated by Sergio Perez perfectly in the exciting finish of the Brazilian GP.
Formulanestori received third place in the competition as a reward for his wonderful fight. Perez was destined to finish fourth with a measly margin of 0.053 seconds.
The difference of 53 hundredths at the end of almost two hours of driving is really marginal. You don’t need to draw the difference in meters. The paint camera photo published by the F1 series says that the difference was less than the length of the car. An F1 car is 563 centimeters long, so the difference is about five meters.
The picture reveals a peculiarity at the finish line of F1 races. The finish line and checkered flag are not necessarily located in the same place.
At the Interlagos circuit, the circuit lap ended dozens of meters before the black and white checkered flag. This is why many fans thought the gap between Alonso and Perez was even smaller.
The best news about the finish was that both Alonso, who won the battle, and Perez, who had to bow out, hummed with satisfaction in the aftermath of the thrilling finish.
– It’s always nice and fun to race with Alonso. Today I lost, it’s that simple, Perez admitted to Viaplay after the race.
