The Iraqi photographer’s incredibly accurate picture of the Moon is a must-see. The final result is compiled from more than 230,000 individual samples.
Iraqi photographer Darya Kawa Mirza has already gathered an audience of almost 250,000 Instagram followers with his space-themed photos.
Mirza takes his photos with an inexpensive basic camera designed for star photography, as an extension of which he has a star telescope that is about ten times more expensive.
For example, the image of the Moon found below has been combined from as many as 231,000 individual photos.
– During three weeks, I spent an unimaginable amount of time working on the image, says Mirza On reddit.
The file size of the resulting 70 megapixel image is over 300 gigabytes.

Colors changed
While Mirza’s image is extremely accurate, the same cannot be said for its colors. Of course, the moon is not as variegated as the picture suggests, which the photographer himself has openly stated.
The colors visible on the surface of the moon are strongly emphasized. Areas with a lot of iron are shown in blue in the picture, while orange indicates aluminum.
Mirza originally published the picture a year ago. Earlier this year Nasa chose it as its astronomy image of the day. Now the picture has gone viral again after Mirza posted it on Reddit.
