General manager Wouter Gudde announced his departure from FC Groningen on Friday. That announcement should create peace within the club. But does the FC benefit from Gudde’s departure?
The general manager was appreciated internally: Gudde worked hard, got the finances in order and under his leadership the Euroborg was full again. From a sporting point of view, Gudde’s period was dramatic, with the relegation to the first division as the low point.
Editor-in-chief Evert van Dijk wonders who will now start the job of general manager at FC Groningen. Gudde indicated that his security situation played a role in his departure.
‘Don’t expect people to be queuing up for these positions given the club’s current situation. Both in terms of ranking and in terms of safety situation. The FC is in an even worse position after this week,” Van Dijk writes in his comments.
