After the big demo at Potsdamer Platz ended, many people followed the call to unite on Sonnenallee in Neukölln. In the past few weeks there have been repeated outbreaks of violence by Jew-haters there and at Hermannplatz.
Shortly before 8 p.m., two police officers were on Reuterstrasse to record an incident. There have been repeated incidents here in the past. Two banned ball bombs were thrown at them in the courtyard entrance.
The officers suffered a slight blast. The bang was so violent that two small children were slightly injured. The officers’ car was also pelted with a firecracker, but there was no damage.

A child (4) received medical treatment on site and was immediately taken to hospital. The parents and officers were also taken to the hospital due to the attack.
The police are investigating dangerous bodily harm and violations of the Explosives Act. Ball bombs have a black powder charge and are considered pyrotechnics. Because of their explosive power, they are not freely available for sale in Germany. It is currently unclear who carried out the attack.
The police are currently on site with several hundred teams.
