A 75-year-old woman fell victim to debit card fraud in mid-June after a chat trick. Someone pretended to be a bank employee by telephone, and a courier then came to her front door in Alkmaar to pick up the bank card. The same evening in Amsterdam, large sums of money were withdrawn from the wall with the pass.
It all happened on June 21st. Around 3:30 PM, the lady from Alkmaar is held up by telephone for several minutes. She is talked into by an employee of – supposedly – the fraud department of her bank. Ultimately, the woman hands over her bank card and PIN code. A telephone and a box with all kinds of jewelry were also donated.
Looking in the mirror
The items are then collected at her front door in the Court of Luxembourg. A special detail: the man who does this takes a long look at himself in the mirror in the central hall of the victim’s apartment before he rings the doorbell. He then walks to the woman’s home.
Once the man has collected the bank card from the victim, he then uses it to withdraw money several times in Amsterdam. For example, he tries to withdraw his money from an ATM on Osdorpplein in Amsterdam. The suspect was captured on camera there and in the central hall of the victim’s apartment.
