It’s been five years since “Little Dark Age” was released. Now MGMT have announced a follow-up record with “Loss Of Life”. The album will be released on February 23, 2024 and the duo has already shared their first single from it, “Mother Nature”, along with a music video.
An album about the power of love
Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser wish their fans “Happy Halloween” on Instagram and also announce the release date of their fifth record. They write: “We are overjoyed with this collection of songs and are very excited to make it available to the world. “It is an album that showcases the power of love in the face of inevitable human death and decay and hopes to provide collective solace in the memory of the universe’s inextinguishable but often brutal desire for balance and harmony.”
“Mother Nature” = a bit like Oasis?
About the single “Mother Nature” the New Yorkers say: “The song describes the archetypal MGMT mythology of a hero who tries to get the other hero on the journey that he ‘must’ continue. “Some of it sounds like Oasis.”
The music video for the single “Mother Nature”:
“Loss Of Life” will consist of ten tracks that were developed together with producer Patrick Wimberly and Dave Fridmann. The latter has already mixed the group’s previous four albums.
