The war between Israel and Hamas is leading to polarization in many places in the world and there are also increasingly two camps emerging in our own country. It is beyond dispute that Israel has been brutally targeted by the Palestinian movement, but parties differ in their opinions about the extent to which retaliation is allowed.

Dolf Jansen pointed out in a message X the suffering of Palestinian children. “I was at home. I was safe. I was in a TV studio. I was safe. I went for a run. I was safe. I was in a theater. I was safe. I was on the A28. Safe. Hotel in Zwolle. Safe. 1 million children in Gaza are not safe. Unsafe. Nowhere safe. 1,000,000 children.”
Story boss Guido den Aantrekker, also an expert in Show News, is sick of this message. “Well, go, run over there and help! What are you waiting for? Instead of all that virtue talk on stage. Bummer.”

Marc Dik, the well-known TV producer who, among other things, makes De Slimste Mens, agrees. “You once presented Pinkpop, I agree. Such a kind of festival where a few hundred were shot by Hamas and in passing some families, including kids and toddlers, were taken hostage. Don’t be so selective in your empathy brother.”
Dolf has now qualified his tweet. “Another addition: everyone who now tells me how terrible it is for Israeli children, Jewish children, hostage children, etc: yes, YES! That shows exactly why children should not be victims of what is happening. Never.”
‘Why now?’
The well-known actor Loek Peters believes that Marc reacts far too strongly to Dolf. “You know what I think is so crazy, Marc. He never says that he has no empathy for the victims of the Hamas attack. (Which 99% certainly have). Why such an answer with accusation? The fact that what he says is true does not make the attack any less true. And and. Not either or.”
Marc then: “If you are concerned about children in the war, don’t just name the victims on one side, but equally on both sides. Don’t secretly wrap your empathy in a statement. Later I saw a tweet with an irritated qualification that it is also bad for Jewish children.”
