With a chicken in your hand under a canopy
Outlaw is the fourth full-length cabaret program by Fuad Hassen. The comedian stands out for his accessible, relaxed comedy style. The audience can relax with Hassen, and yet he still manages to deliver powerful blows. Again in his latest program. Hassen notices that only when you feel like your freedom is being taken away, do you realize what freedom means. Things that were previously self-evident are suddenly no longer possible. In fact, they are banned. You long for that freedom again and think about what you will do as soon as it is possible again.
Hassen asks for insight Outlaw wonder whether we can handle real freedom. Aren’t we as a people overly domesticated? Because if you’re used to having a full meal delivered to your home via an app, catching a chicken for your dinner suddenly becomes a completely different story… There you are. In your homemade clothes. With a chicken in your hand. Under a shelter. Unprotected. Outlaw. Hassen will be performing in the Kielzog Theater on Thursday.

Concert by Vocaal Ensemble Groningen
At the beginning of November, All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day are annually commemorated and celebrated in the Catholic Church. Around that theme has the Vocaal Ensemble Groningen the program Selig sind die Toten composed with the double-choir Requiem ‘Missa Pro Defunctis’ by Francesco Cavalli (1602-1676) as its central work. This work is in eight voices from beginning to end, divided between two equal choirs. Only in the long part Dies Irae a number of duets and tersets occur.
Those parts are sung by a smaller group. In addition to this mass, the ensemble sings a number of other works, from medieval ( Deus Miserere ) and Heinrich Schütz (his six-part motet Selig sind die Toten ) to a modern version of Lux Aeterna by the Japanese composer Nubuaki Izawa. See vocalensemblegroningen.nl For more information.

Waylon is actually just Willem
William. A typically Dutch name, a name for a king, but also for one of the Dutch musical talents, who saw it as his mission to bring country to the Netherlands. Provisional highlight: second place at the Eurovision Song Contest with Calm after the Storm . But in the end, that’s just him Just William , pulled from the Apeldoorn clay. He sang in another language all these years, but he no longer thinks that is necessary.
Writing his first Dutch-language album is a tribute to his roots, his own song to life. In his theater show, Waylon honors the music from his life, from Robert Long to Andre Hazes. He replenishes their treasury with his own songs and the story of a simple, talented boy in a complicated world.
Winschoten – De Klinker Cultural Center, Thu 8:15 p.m., 40 euros
Free entry full of music, theater and art
During the autumn holidays, primary school students can participate in the Free Walk-in at VRIJDAG. Wednesday (today) and Thursday there will be a different group, different teachers and other workshops to choose from. Music, theater or visual arts: children choose on the spot what they want to do. The theme of the free entry is ‘Animals in the forest’. The basement of the Walstraat has been transformed into a large forest where children can paint trees, look for leaves, paste and build.
In this forest there are not only normal animals, such as bears and squirrels, but also mysterious mythical animals. Children will make an Animal Book to distinguish these animals. They also research, create and sample sounds from the forest to potentially create a soundscape.
Groningen – FRIDAY Walstraat, Wed (today) and Thu 1-4 pm
Ruud Smulders in his ‘Rudiversum’
Comedian Ruud Smulders managed to break through with his much-discussed Minute from Ruud in BNNVARA’s talk show De Vooravond. He managed to gain fame among the younger audience with YouTuber Dylan Haegens, Hufterspraak and Amazon’s Killer Kamp. Smulders has been seen in the theater for years. First for years with his physical cabaret group De Blonde Jongens en Tim, with which he won the Groninger Cabaret Festival in 2014, and later both solo and in projects with Silvester Zwaneveld, Emiel van Jong (Schudden) and Guido Weijers. He previously created the much-watched stand-up show BRUD and Bruter Than BRUUD .
Now he is back with his first real theater program RUDIVERSE . In this program, the absurdist energy bomb can be seen from its most honest side for the first time.
