The CCOO union has called for four days of strike, the next 19 days [este jueves] and October 25, and November 8 and 15 in the first cycle of early childhood education, that is, in the stage from 0 to 3 years. The call affects the private daycares and privately managed municipal, the vast majority (about 2,500 centers and 15,00 workers). The directly managed municipal daycare centers and the 40 of the Department of Education are excluded. The reason for the strike is the blocking of the negotiation of the collective agreement.
These are the minimum services that must be in all centers, as planned by the Government and includes a order published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat:
-A person from the management team
-A person from the administrative staff
-50% of the educational staff in daycare centers (0-3 years)
-One teacher for every three classrooms in the stage from 3 to 6 years in those centers that also cover this stage
-A backup person during lunch time
-50% of the cleaning staff in dining rooms and toilets and 33% in the case of cleaning the rest of the areas and in what affects the collection of organic matter
The order states that the management of the centers, “once hearing the strike committee,” “must determine the personnel strictly necessary for the operation of the minimum services established” by the order. And he points out that these minimum services “should preferably be provided by personnel who do not exercise the right to strike.”
