In the Netherlands, four people are said to have become ill after drinking the contaminated champagne and in Germany one has even died. It is therefore important not to drink the champagne just like that.
You can recognize the contaminated champagne by this
If you want to open the bottle, it is important to pay attention to how it looks when pouring. According to the NWA, you can already see when pouring that it is not champagne. The contaminated drink does not fizz, is reddish-brown and smells of anise. If this is the case with your champagne, then you better throw the drink away.
More bottles dirty?
It is not yet known how the drug ended up in the champagne bottles. “The NVWA is therefore unable to estimate whether there are any more of these bottles containing the hazardous substance in circulation. It cannot be ruled out that there are other bottles of the same brand in circulation that also contain MDMA,” the authority said.
