The weekend’s box office in North America is estimated at $95 million to $97 million, according to the New York Times. Together with worldwide sales, this sum increases again by around 31 to 33 million US dollars, resulting in a final result of 126 to 130 million US dollars. Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” film now holds the record for the highest-grossing opening weekend for a concert film.
With this record, she replaces Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never”, which brought in not a little but far less in its first weekend: 41 million US dollars. By the end of the season, it had grossed $138 million worldwide. The current record for the highest grossing total for a concert film is held by “This Is It”, a film about Michael Jackson’s rehearsals for a tour that never took place, which was released after his death. It grossed $380 million worldwide.
