Actress Mischa Barton experienced harsh criticism during her OC years.
Former OC actress Mischa Barton, 37, says she is still suffering from the problems caused by the hit series. Barton was 17 years old when the first season of the series was released in 2003. The actor says that he dealt with the dark side of publicity in therapy.
– I went through traumatic things, especially in my twenties, and it doesn’t all disappear overnight.
Barton played Marissa Cooper from 2003 to 2007. At that time, problems reared their heads.
– I don’t think I was completely ready for publicity on that scale. I wasn’t looking for one, I would have preferred to be anonymous.
Barton says that he was once treated as much older, which he actually was. The actress dated older men and was also constantly surrounded by paparazzi.

Barton is happy that dealing with things is easier and more open these days.
– People want to talk about their depression and anxiety, they are no longer taboo.
