Professional golfer Marcel Siem catapulted himself into the top five with a dream round at the tournament in Madrid.
The 43-year-old from Ratingen played an impressive round of 61 at the end of the Open de Espana and moved up to shared fourth place in the final leaderboard with a total of 267 strokes.
“The lowest round of the WEEK. I can hardly describe how happy I am with this achievement and this tournament,” Siem wrote on his Instagram account. The veteran from the Rhineland scored nine holes on the par 71 course on the final day, including two eagles.
The Frenchman Matthieu Pavon celebrated his first victory on the DP World Tour. The 30-year-old won the event on the former European tour worth 3.25 million US dollars with 261 strokes, clearly ahead of the South African Zander Lombard (265 strokes). Nathan Kimsey (266) from England came third.
