Film director Renny Harlin and his wife Johanna moved to New Zealand at the end of the summer to shoot a film.
A couple of years old Coco-daughter has adapted to New Zealand well. The daughter has started kindergarten, which has brought relief to the couple’s busy work schedule. Johanna has studied education, so putting her daughter in kindergarten seemed like an exciting change for her. Renny, on the other hand, was more skeptical about it.
– I was really prejudiced, Renny says.
Renny says that leaving her one-year-old daughter alone in kindergarten without her parents seemed like a difficult idea to her at first.
– I wonder if I can leave him with strangers for the whole day. We are used to him being only with us. Sometimes we have a babysitter for a few hours, but otherwise. I thought, how can such a small little toddler manage there alone, Renny says.
However, the prejudices were quickly shaken when Renny also got to know the kindergarten staff and saw that the daughter was enjoying herself in the company of new people.
Coco’s daycare center is located in the middle of sheep and wine farms in the heart of nature. The daycare employs up to seven nurses per dozen children. The daughter has made new friendships in kindergarten and learned a lot of English.
After the move, fans of the couple have been wondering where the family is Sell-dog is. Johanna says that Myy-koira is in Finland. Two mutual friends of the couple take turns taking care of it. The solution was reached for practical reasons.
– There are such strict quarantine requirements here. It should have been quarantined for 60 days. We didn’t want that, and it didn’t make any sense, says Renny.
– It would have been so terrible. Fortunately, we’ll see each other soon Myy, adds Johanna.

Miami to New Zealand
New Zealand has proven to be a nice place to live. Especially the country’s green nature and high mountains have made an impression on the couple. The two also mention the sea and good sandy beaches. The family has settled in a house by the sea, so they get to enjoy sea views every day.
People, on the other hand, in Renny’s opinion, are lively and down-to-earth people, both in everyday life and in work life.
The couple only had time to live in their Miami home for two months before they had to go out into the world again due to busy work. The couple miss their home in Miami, but are also happy to be in Finland for Christmas.
– Of course we miss our home in Miami, but there is nothing to complain about here, says Renny.
– Maybe the longing is such that it’s wonderful when we finally have a home. We haven’t always had that. It’s nice to be back home, says Johanna.
New Zealand has also been beneficial in that the film-era strikes in the United States have not extended to the couple’s projects.
New season program
Harlin’s The Harlins -the third season of the reality show will be released on November 8. In the upcoming season, the life of the couple will be followed after the birth of their first child and we will get to know, among other things, the challenges of parenting in the middle of a busy working life.
In the coming season, we will get to see more of the rougher side of busy everyday life.
– We want to show that it’s not always just dancing with roses here either. There are challenges, but they can be overcome together and with a positive attitude, says Johanna.
– After two seasons, we decided how the program looks and feels. The identity of the program was found. The audience feedback was so positive and brave. We felt that we owe it to the viewers who like the program to show a little more of those different aspects of life, Renny adds.
