Defending champions SSC Napoli have temporarily fallen out of the Champions League ranks in the Italian football championship. The champions suffered their second defeat of the season against AC Florence with 1:3 (1:1) and had to let the guests from Tuscany, who had previously had the same number of points, pass them in fourth place in the table.
Ahead of Napoli are Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League opponents and leaders AC Milan as well as the chasing duo with the previous league leaders Inter Milan and record champions Juventus Turin. Naples are already seven points behind the leading Rossoneri.
Fiorentina took the lead early on at Vesuvius through former Stuttgart and Wolfsburg Bundesliga professional Josip Brekalo. Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen (45th + 5) equalized with a penalty kick shortly before half-time, but Giacomo Bonaventura (63rd) and Nicolas Gonzalez (90th + 3) sealed the visitors’ victory in the second half.
