Mayor Schagen thanks students after brave intervention in stabbing conductor

Students from the Safety and Craftsmanship course in Den Helder have received a thank you from Mayor Marjan Schouten-Nouwen after their brave actions during the stabbing at Schagen station two weeks ago. A conductor was slightly injured.

Last September 13, a conductor was stabbed at Schagen station. He was slightly injured and is now doing well. Several train passengers came to the conductor’s aid. A group of students also single-handedly went after the two suspects. “We called the police and kept an overview.” This allowed the police to arrest one of the suspects at the station itself, with the second suspect not much later a few streets away.

Heroism

Today, these students were thanked by the mayor, among others, in the council chamber of the town hall in Schagen. All dressed in uniform, about twenty students listen attentively to the words of thanks and appreciation. Kampen-Nouwen thanks the students of the VeVa (Safety and Craftsmanship) course at Vonk for their heroism. The course serves as preliminary training for a career in defense. In addition to the police, teachers and a conductor were also present.
