Supermarket closed after stabbing: ‘Get well soon for the injured’

Supermarket Dunya in Den Bosch will remain closed on Thursday after a stabbing. The company reports this on Facebook. Four people were injured on Wednesday evening, but are out of danger. “Get well soon to all injured,” the company wrote.

The supermarket is overloaded with messages of support. “Thank you to everyone who supports us, calls or texts. Unfortunately, we are closed for repairs and cleaning work,” the company writes.

Regular customers of the supermarket are devastated by what happened. “It was a big shock of course,” says Jesse Hamel of the neighborhood association. “We do our own shopping here, and children are also sent on errands,” he says. Local resident and municipal councilor Osman Çifçi also comes to watch. “This is very intense! I would have been there for the same money. We continue to support the supermarket.”

Not everyone is aware of the closure on Thursday. Various suppliers and customers stand at the door in surprise. “I’ll bring the eggs on Monday,” sighs a supplier. Customer Ali Karmi also faces a closed door: “This is quite a shock. They are very nice people! I come here every week.”

The police have arrested four men for a stabbing in the Dunya supermarket on Churchilllaan in Den Bosch. Four people were injured on Wednesday afternoon. Two of the four victims had to be taken to hospital. The other two injured people were treated by ambulance staff at the supermarket.

It is unclear exactly what happened. According to witnesses, an argument preceded the stabbing. Both employees and customers of the supermarket were injured. The business will reopen to customers on Friday.
