Hyundai’s Teemu Suninen was already tied for second place in the World Rally Championship in Chile, until the trip ended in an interruption.
Suninen drove out of the last rally in the previous special stage. Based on C More’s TV image, the Finn hit a tree stump on the right side of the road. The impact destroyed the car to such an extent that the end result was a drive-out.
A spectator who was on the edge of the cut was filmed at the stump of Suninen’s hit. In the video, you can see how the right front tire of Suninen’s car goes completely sideways as a result of the shock.

Suninen fought hard against his teammate Thierry Neuville before the exit. With Suninen’s interruption, Neuville is tied for second place in the rally.
The rally has yet to be driven in the Power Stage. Iltalehti follows that special test in another article.
