The NS doesn’t care about the Northern Netherlands, says parliamentary editor Arend van Wijngaarden in a review. The railway company has little interest in further expanding the railway network in the Northern Netherlands. Should other public transport companies be given a chance? Respond to the statement of the day: Give Arriva or other public transport companies the opportunity to operate more railway lines in the Northern Netherlands
Van Wijngaarden states in his article that the Dutch Railways buried all northern railway lines twenty-five years ago. The Lely Line and Lower Saxony Line are great plans to make the North more accessible. But it remains exciting whether they will actually continue and it will certainly take about ten years.
Is the NS the right party to expand rail transport in the Northern Netherlands or should other parties be given a chance? Arriva already operates several lines in the Northern Netherlands. Should this company or other carriers be given the opportunity to set up more or new lines in the three northern provinces? Respond to the statement of the day.
