The 29 euro ticket has to come faster!

It has rarely been so cheap to travel by bus and train in Berlin. A comment from BZ editor Hildburg Bruns.

It can no longer be because of the price if Berliners don’t use buses, trams and subways. It has rarely been so lucrative to use public transport!

One month of free travel for 29 euros – and a social ticket that still only costs 9 euros. However, it is difficult to see that the change in subscriptions and machines for the Berlin Ticket’s comeback could take up to nine months. This has to come faster!

The price increases for other tickets are also quicker – they will apply from January and are the second in just nine months. Phew!

But they aren’t just made out of thin air, the VBB has to base itself on other prices. And hand on heart: With this good selection of monthly tickets, expensive travel in Berlin only affects rare users and tourists who are used to such prices in other cities.

Of course there is criticism from business and also from the ranks of the CDU, who would have preferred to invest the three-digit million amount in expanding the infrastructure. Correct. Nevertheless, it is a feel-good moment when everyday life costs a little less.
