Eintracht Frankfurt: 4 candidates to succeed Randal Kolo Muani

Offensive as a “focal point”

Dino Toppmöller predicts a bright future for Eintracht Frankfurt even without stars like Randal Kolo Muani (24) or Daichi Kamada (27). “If I were a Eintracht Frankfurt fan, I would be looking forward to a great future. We have a great foundation of absolute leaders. We are full of young top talents who are on the right track. There are many others who have already taken a step forward,” said the SGE coach on Thursday.

The 2022 Europa League winner had a personnel loss this summer and, in addition to Kolo Muani and Kamada, also lost Jesper Lindstrøm (23) and Evan Ndicka (24). A total of 18 players left Eintracht, who brought in transfer income of 142 million euros – most of which came from Kolo Muani’s 95 million euro deadline day transfer to PSG. Almost 56 million euros were reinvested in more than a dozen new players; a replacement for the late Kolo Muani could no longer be realized – not yet.

As the “Picture“ reports that the Frankfurt team are working hard to sign a new center forward in the winter transfer window. The paper names four candidates: In addition to Gift Orban (21) from KAA Gent and Jørgen Strand Larsen (23) from Celta Vigo, both of whom have been linked to Eintracht in recent weeks, Marcos Leonardo (20) is also said to be from FC Santos and Karim Konaté (19) from Red Bull Salzburg are on the SGE list.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t sign any more strikers. But I am sure that we will do one or two things in the winter,” said board spokesman Axel Hellmann recently on “RTL”. The Hessians are still unbeaten in the current season, but have recently failed to draw more than a draw in four games and have only scored four goals in five Bundesliga games. “It’s not extremely important to me that I say I’m unbeaten for ten or twelve games. We want to win, that’s what we all want,” said Toppmöller. The offensive is “a bit of a focus”. In terms of personnel, the SGE can rely on midfielder Kristijan Jakic (26), who recently injured his knee, at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky).

In the center of the attack, Toppmöller recently had the newcomers Omar Marmoush (24) and Jessic Ngankam (23) as well as the talented Nacho (18) at his disposal. The latter scored 26 goals in 33 games in the Hessenliga in 2022/23 and this season he was directly involved in eight goals in eight Regionalliga games. Lucas Alario (30) is about to return to the matchday squad after an injury break of almost five months.
