Traffic on the A2 highway suffered long traffic jams and significant delays for about an hour and a half at Den Bosch on Monday morning. At one point there was a spectator traffic jam between Beesd in Gelderland and Den Bosch, with the extra travel time increasing to 70 minutes. In the direction of Utrecht the delay was one hour. The cause was a burning car.

The car had caught fire near Kerkdriel in Gelderland. As a result, one lane in the direction of Utrecht had to be closed. Traffic in that direction from the Veghel exit was already affected by the delay. In the other direction it was stuck from the Gelderse Beesd. Traffic to the south could not be diverted because it was also busy on the alternative routes.

By nine o’clock the fire had been extinguished and all lanes in the direction of Utrecht were open again. There was then a delay of fifteen minutes in both directions.
