Dozens of Turkish supporters have already been arrested in Bruges

The supporters have been administratively arrested for possession of flares or for suspicion of bad intentions. For example, some had balaclavas in their pockets. Some also did not have a valid ticket for the match. They will remain in the police cell until after the match.

About 200 supporters go in a procession from the Markt to the ‘t Zand where the shuttle buses take them to the stadium. This happens under police supervision.

Additional safety measures

The police have taken extra security measures because officers were injured during riots during a previous encounter between the two teams in 2015. There is a glass ban in the entertainment district and flares are also prohibited.

“Shop doors close earlier”

The police took into account that there would be a parade of Turkish supporters. To avoid problems, retailers were advised to close their doors a little earlier.

The match starts at 9pm.
