Milestone for goalkeeper Oliver Baumann. The 33-year-old became the first professional to reach the mark of 300 Bundesliga games for TSG Hoffenheim in the duel against 1. FC Cologne. In total, the Kraichgauer captain made 334 appearances, making him also a record player in Sinsheim’s history. Baumann has been under contract with TSG since 2014, when he came from SC Freiburg for 5.5 million euros. To date, the club has not paid more money for any other keeper.
Baumann completes 300 games: TSG Hoffenheim’s Bundesliga record players
“Oliver Baumann is one of the best goalkeepers in Germany. “His technique and power, how he acts and communicates in the game – that always impresses me,” coach Pellegrino Matarazzo praised him a few weeks ago. The long-time number one, who has recently been a regular member of the German national team squad but has not yet been used, recently passed Sebastian Rudy, who played 295 Bundesliga games after his contract expired in the summer. There is a larger gap to third-placed Andrej Kramaric with his 228 appearances.
If you add Baumann’s league games with Freiburg, he even has 431, which only two other Bundesliga professionals can beat. FC Bayern’s currently injured goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has 478 games, followed by his teammate Thomas Müller with 446.
