FC Barcelona has won in La Liga for the fourth time. Coach Xavi’s national champion was 5-0 too strong for Real Betis in their temporary home stadium, Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on the Montjuïc mountain.
Thanks to the victory, Barcelona is at least the leader in Spain for a day. The team has 13 points from five matches. Real Madrid, which is second with 12 points from four games, will play at home against Real Sociedad on Sunday.
João Félix, hired from Atlético, opened the scoring for the home team. It was the Portuguese’s first competitive goal for Barça. Robert Lewandowski made it 2-0 a few minutes later after being sent into the depths by Andreas Christensen. In the second half, Barcelona, where Frenkie de Jong played the entire match, continued to lead. Ferran Torres scored from a free kick, Raphinha scored the fourth and João Cancelo was also accurate.
FC Barcelona will host Antwerp FC, the team of coach Mark van Bommel, in the Champions League on Tuesday.
