Playmobil Weekend wants to let children really play again

They want to get young people out from behind their screens to let them really play again.

Wim Vynckier, Playmobil Weekend Roeselare: “With our initiative we want to encourage children again to use their imagination and creativity to play, really play with their hands again, form dialogues, use their imagination, together with others. It’s good for fine motor skills, for social skills.”

Hobbyists bring their collections to Roeselare to create some breathtaking dioramas: ancient Rome, Pompeii, the Steampunk era and, above all, lots of dragons. Playmobil is a microbe. Arne Devos, collector: “It starts with what Playmobil proposes and you build it. You start thinking of other ideas until you really start ‘customizing’: you start adjusting pieces, you start drawing pieces yourself.”
