Away fans are welcome at the Europa League match between Ajax and Olympique Marseille next Thursday. A spokesperson for Mayor Halsema confirmed this.
Last week the mayor announced that a decision had yet to be made. The municipality was then still waiting for advice from the police, who would investigate how great the risk of the arrival of the supporters would be.
Marseille has a notoriously fanatical following. Marseille last played in the Netherlands in April last year. Then the team took on Feyenoord, for the semi-finals of the Conference League. In Rotterdam, 48 supporters were arrested that evening for lighting fireworks and public violence.
The away match that Ajax will play there has already been classified as a high-risk match. It is still unclear whether Ajax supporters are welcome in Marseille.
