Tottenham: Richarlison reveals problems and wants psychological help

The video evidence in Peru lasted seven long minutes, then the sobering result was clear again for Richarlison: offside, no goal. Even in Brazil, the goal drought continues for the 26-year-old. “I have been through a turbulent time away from the football field in the last five months. Now things are fine at home. The people who only want my money are gone. Now things will get rolling again, I’m sure I’ll have a good run at Tottenham and can make something happen again,” Richarlison went into a little more detail. “I will continue to focus on the club, the storm is over.”

All that is known so far is that the Brazilian recently separated from his long-time advisor Renato Velasco. Since April 2022, Richarlison has also been represented by the “CAA Base” agency. Last Friday, the turbulent time became visible to all fans when Richarlison cried on the bench after being substituted in the 5-1 win against Bolivia.

“That sad moment wasn’t even because I played badly. “In my opinion, I didn’t play badly in Belém, but rather it was an outburst because of the things that happened off the pitch and that were beyond my control, not on my part, but on the part of the people who were close to me,” explained the Attacker who wants to seek psychological help if he returns to Tottenham.

“I’m going back to England to get psychological help, from a psychologist, to work on my psyche. That’s all you need to come back stronger. I think I will be in the next selection, I will work for it. This week I’m going to sit down and talk to them. I need a good sequence to find a rhythm in the game and arrive well here,” said Richarlison.

The goal against Peru would have been a good start – but a few centimeters ruined it. “I scored a goal, but unfortunately it didn’t count. What matters is that the team wins. I’m happy to be playing in the national team jersey again and to be happy. It’s important that we have a good run at Tottenham, this bad period will pass. Man, that was bad. But that’s part of football, you have to keep working hard and then things will work out for me again. I know my potential, I know what I’m capable of, I just have to keep working hard.”
