Spain won 7-1 in Georgia in qualifying for the Euro 2024 in Germany and reduced the gap to leaders Scotland.
Qualification for the 2024 European Championship is on matchday 5. The group winners and runners-up from each of the ten qualifying groups are certain to take part in the European Championship – this is how 20 of the 24 participating teams will be determined. In addition, there is the automatically qualified host Germany and three teams from the play-offs, which will be based on the results of the Nations League and will take place in March 2024.
Group A: Spain narrows the gap to Scotland
Alvaro Morata played an outstanding game for Spain, scoring three goals (22nd, 40th, 66th) in a 7-1 win in Georgia. Dani Olmo (38′), Nico Williams (68′) and Lamine Yamal (74′) also scored for Spain, while Georgia’s Solomon Kverkvelia scored an own goal. Giorgo Chakvetadze scored to make it 1:4 (49′).
Spain now has six points after three games and has narrowed the gap to Scotland, who are currently leading the table with twelve points from four games without losing a point. Scotland plays Cyprus in the evening (8.45 p.m.).
Group D: Türkiye in the top game against Armenia
As league leaders, Turkey hosts Armenia, who were second in the group. Croatia, third in the table, plays against Latvia (both games 8:45 p.m.).
Group J: Portugal to the top game in Slovakia
The leader Portugal, with no loss of points, plays against pursuers Slovakia. Bosnia and Herzegovina will also face Liechtenstein and Luxembourg will host Iceland (all games 8:45 p.m.).
More games on the weekend, matchday 6 ends Tuesday
The remaining games on Matchday 5 will take place on Saturday, when England and Italy will also play.
The 6th match day is scheduled from Sunday to Tuesday.
