Niek Wind (33) has been officially installed as alderman in Hoogeveen. He takes over from Jan Zwiers, who has been mayor of the municipality of Midden-Drenthe since this week.
Wind was an alderman in the municipality of Borger-Odoorn from 2018 to 2022. He was allowed to take charge of the sports and finance portfolios. After the last municipal elections, he ended up in the opposition with his Gemeentebelangen party. During that time he was party leader. Now he is starting a new phase in Hoogeveen.
During the council meeting, Wind introduced himself. “Before you is a passionate, enthusiastic Drent who became addicted to politics at a young age. In 2018 I was given the opportunity to become a councilor in Borger-Odoorn. Now I am trying it in Hoogeveen. I look forward to working with the council and council.”
A changing of the guard has also taken place in the neighboring municipality of De Wolden. Rudi Hooch Antink was officially installed there as alderman. He takes over from Egbert van Dijk. The latter started working as a representative on behalf of the BoerBurgerBeweging in the Drenthe States.
Hooch Antink is originally a dairy farmer, but he is leaving that work behind him for the time being. His two sons take over from him. In his own words, Hooch Antink can then fully focus on his new job. The resident of Koekange already has political experience. For the past four years he has been active on behalf of Municipal Interests in the general board of the Drents Overijsselse Delta Water Board.
