Sten Wennink stops as councilor of the Christian Union in Groningen

Sten Wennink stops as a councilor for the Groningen Christian Union faction. His successor is Laurent Dwarshuis, now spokesperson for the municipal council faction.

“Over the past 5 years I have enjoyed working for the municipality of Groningen. First from a small distance and in recent years as a councilor. Although I look back on this period with pleasure and gratitude, life outside the council does not stand still. With a view to the future, I would like to pay more attention to the home. The residents deserve a councilor who can commit 100% to their needs. That is why I would like to make room for a successor,” Wennink explains.

Laurent Dwarshuis (31) has been active in the municipal faction since 2021 and has previously gained experience at the municipality of Noordenveld. He lives in Wijert and works as a management advisor at the municipality of Assen.

Dwarshuis is looking forward to his new position: “I am proud that I can think about and decide on the future of the municipality of Groningen from a Christian attitude to life. Being able to live comfortably, make ends meet and live healthily – not self-evident for too many of our residents. It is up to politicians and society to look out for each other more and tackle the problems together. That is what I want to commit to in the coming years.”
