Finland defeated Kazakhstan 1–0 in the European football qualifiers away from home.
Huhkajie scored the winning goal in the 78th minute Oliver Antman. The 22-year-old winger placed the ball in the bottom corner by Benjamin Källman great pass.
Antman has emerged as the national team’s most effective goal cannon in recent matches, and the pace doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
With the win, Finland secured its position at the top of the qualifying group. The qualifiers are now halfway through, and Huuhkajie’s chances for the value competitions look very good.
Huuhkaj now have 12 points and Kazakhstan 9. Denmark and Slovenia, who have played fewer matches, have 7 points. The two best teams in the group advance to the European Championships.
Finland thought they had already taken the lead in the first half, but the shot was rejected somewhat questionably. Antman’s cross bounced off the Kazakhstan defender and into the goal, but the ball was adjudged to have gone over the end line before that.
The referee of the match listened to the VAR judges before his decision. He was not prompted to check the situation on the video screen itself. Based on the TV pictures, the ball did not necessarily go over the end line.
