DANA has left extensive damage and is expected to become a storm when it merges with Hurricane Franklin

The recent weekend has witnessed the significant effects of the Dana, where the accumulated rainfall figures have risen to more than 150 mm. The most critical day was Sunday, and although DANA is expected to continue producing showers and storms in central and northwestern areas, atmospheric stability will prevail, at least until next weekend.

According to Marta Almarcha’s weather forecast for the time is, DANA is expected to eventually be absorbed by the remnants of Hurricane Franklin. This meteorological event may imply that Spain will experience rainy conditions again next weekend.

This Tuesday the DANA could continue to show signs of instability with possible showers in Galicia and in internal areas, such as the upper Ebro. Despite the fact that on Wednesday there could be drizzle in the interior southeast, the instability could reappear when Thursday arrives.

By merging with the remnants of the hurricane FranklinDANA will become a storm. This will occur as it positions itself to the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, merging with the low formed on the surface, explains the meteorologist.

A vast area of ​​low pressure is forecast located off the Portuguese coast, which could move south towards the peninsula. This could lead to storms and showers in areas of the northwest of the peninsula, affecting regions such as Galicia, Castilla y León and the Cantabrian.

Will it rain on the weekend?

Already with an eye on the weekend, it is possible that rainy conditions prevail, especially in the northwest quadrant. The advance of the storm could further accentuate the rainfall.

There are possibilities that the storm moves closer to the coasts of southern Portugal. Saturdaywe could expect showers in a large part of the northwest, with special emphasis on areas such as southern Galicia and the Cantabrian slope of Asturias.

Despite the instability, temperatures will remain moderate. Forecasts indicate that in the next few days there may be a slight increase with temperatures exceeding 30ºC in prominent river valleys, and ranging between 25 and 30ºC in other areas. The warmest areas, such as the Guadalquivir, could register temperatures of 34 or 35ºC towards the weekend. It is vital to note that these forecasts could change, especially after Friday, due to the inherent uncertainty in long-term weather predictions.
