Hoeneß criticizes “transfer shows” on German television

That Uli Hoeneß is a man of clear words is nothing new. The honorary president of FC Bayern now has a problem with the numerous “transfer shows” on German television.

The 71-year-old called these transmissions a “cage full of fools” to the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”. This may mean the TV broadcast of “Sky”. On September 1, “Deadline Day”, the broadcaster dealt almost exclusively with reports from the transfer world and provided viewers with numerous water level reports.

The climax came a few minutes before the end of the transfer, when “Sky” transfer expert Florian Plettenberg announced live that Joao Palhinha’s move from FC Fulham to FC Bayern, which was believed to be safe, had burst. The Portuguese had previously completed the medical check. Photos and videos for the presentation of the “Holding Six” long desired by Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel are said to have already been “in the can”.

Hoeneß demands punishment for using the word “transfer”

In addition, Armel Bella-Kotchap’s commitment fell through on the last day of the changeover period. The German international is said to have also agreed with the Munich team, but ultimately switched to PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

Such a busy “deadline day” is untypical for FC Bayern. Uli Hoeneß knows that too: “Apart from exceptional cases, we shouldn’t be in the middle of the action on the last transfer day in future. We used to laugh about this deadline day.”

He added with a wink that using the word “transfer” should now be “criminalized until December 1st”.

The problems were “homemade”, since the German record champions, Benjamin Pavard (for around 30 million euros to Inter Milan) and Ryan Gravenberch (for around 45 million euros to Liverpool FC), gave up two players shortly before the end of the transfer period.
