The viewing figure watcher Tina Nijkamp, who has been penalized by NPO, RTL and Talpa, becomes De Telegraaf’s Angela de Jong. “You are now the TV critics of the two major newspapers in the Netherlands.”
When it comes to reporting on media-related matters, the AD is very dominant in the newspaper landscape. Since the departure of Rob Goossens, De Telegraaf has not really participated and the rest of the newspapers do not really play a significant role in this area. But that is now changing: De Telegraaf is now introducing its own Angela de Jong.
Angela and Tina
Viewing figure whisperer Tina Nijkamp has been appointed to become the face of the media corner of De Telegraaf. She announced it herself yesterday in the talk show Humberto, where she actually sat at the table with Angela. Angela looked at her with an economical look and that is not surprising, because this can cost her serious talk show performances.
Is Angela’s place at VI still safe or will we suddenly see Tina sitting there? And who do Op1 and Humberto call when they need a TV expert: Angela or Tina? Anyway: Tina starts Monday. “From next week I will be a columnist at De Telegraaf twice a week.”
Two reviewers
Humberto, who has apparently forgiven Angela for all her scathing columns, gets all excited. “So we have Telegraaf and AD at the table, the TV critics of the two major newspapers in the Netherlands.”
Tina denies, but of course it comes down to it. “No, absolutely not, I will certainly not become a reviewer like Angela de Jong, but I am actually going to talk about the media world, about how TV channels work and of course about viewing figures, just like on my Instagram. How it scores, what does score and why something scores and why something doesn’t score.”
First column
Humberto is curious what Tina will write about. “Angela just wrote something about Matthijs and today’s interview. Would that also come up in your column?”
Tina: “Eh, well I don’t think that will be my first column on Monday.”
Unlike Angela, Tina has spent many years working in an executive position in the TV world. She was program director of SBS 6 and was elected Broadcaster of the Year in 2008.
