After death threats against a teenager in Eisenhüttenstadt (Oder-Spree), the police started investigations.

Unknowns had sprayed the threats on the walls of the youth square. The Linksjugend Brandenburg published corresponding pictures on the online platform X on Saturday. SS runes and right-wing extremist agitation can also be seen on it. The police are investigating the threat to the 16-year-old and the use of anti-constitutional symbols, a spokesman confirmed on Saturday.

He was initially unable to say anything about the status of the investigation. Among other things, the city and the young people had reported the past week.

According to the Left Youth in Eisenhüttenstadt, the 16-year-old is committed to representing youth interests in local politics and also volunteers in projects. One of these projects, funded by the cultural state of Brandenburg, was the revitalization of the youth square. More than 50 workshops and numerous art events were organized there.

According to Anton Wiezorek, state spokesman for Left Youth Brandenburg, fewer and fewer young people are politically committed to their interests. “If politically active young people have to fear being killed by neo-Nazis, that is a danger to our democracy.”
