Ilta Silva celebrates the release of her second album and rejoices in her marriage with her photographer.
Tender love and breakup songs have always been a part Evening Silvan, 26, artist brand. His second album I’m just human is, however, his happiest record ever. According to Ilta, he didn’t aim for a sassier album because he wanted to shake off the love and breakup songs associated with him.
– In my opinion, interpersonal issues are the ones that have the most impact and live strongly in the songs as well. I never thought I wanted to get rid of them, but write songs that become me, he opens to Iltalehte.
– If I have to write breakup songs for the next five years, I have to do so. It doesn’t mean that I will publish them, but I just need to get it all out of my head so that I can move on to the next topics.

At least Ilta herself is happier than ever, because she has found the love of her life. Him and the photographer Troy Silva got married in 2020 after dating for about a year.
The singer expresses that the marriage has felt really wonderful and adventurous so far.

Ilta feels that the marriage itself has not changed their relationship, but the years during which both have developed and grown. Of course, the relationship is not perfect, because disagreements are inevitable for every couple.
– It’s really hard for me to keep anything inside, so I have to say things out loud. It’s a positive thing in that sense, that we don’t allow blockages to form in our relationship, he opens.
– Of course there will be irritations. For example, I’m not at my best when I’m tired or stressed. I’m also a bit tense before the gig. In that situation, it is good to say that “this is not because of you”. It will be easier for loved ones to get rid of those “not so good moments”.

The couple also work together. Troy often acts as a lighting and videographer for his spouse, for example in music videos. According to the artist, it has both good and bad sides.
– I feel that I live and breathe my work. It’s inevitably part of our everyday life, so on the other hand, it’s good that he takes pictures and videos of me.
– On the other hand, I’m also very busy, so sometimes I have to micromanage behind my shoulder. Especially for a person you know so well, you may not even give your own peace of mind, but start adjusting everything yourself. Nowadays, when he starts editing, I start doing something else.
Relationship boundaries
The couple’s relationship sparked a lot of discussion in April 2021, when the artist told Me Nais that they are really strict about loyalty. The singer had said at the time that thinking about someone else is already cheating, and for example, she wouldn’t go to a bar again without Troy.
Now Ilta wants to correct a couple of things on the subject.
– It was perhaps a bit taken out of context and there was a bit of a misunderstanding. After all, there was feedback that “it sounds like a terrible relationship and controlling”, he says.
– I really think that you can’t set limits for someone else, but only for yourself. Otherwise, it’s controlling, he emphasizes.

According to the musician, it has not been timely to think about whether Troy is thinking about other women. In addition, he does not feel that he cannot go out without his spouse.
– Of course I can go to a bar, but I don’t go there often. I feel that we have a really free atmosphere in our relationship. We value our relationship and prioritize it very highly. We also want to take really good care of it, he explains.
So what are the rules of the game in their relationship?
– It is perhaps more that we are honest, open and prioritize us as a couple really high. I think that’s a good thing – we think about what we prioritize at any stage of life.
Finland-Germany-Finland
The couple has also lived together on the other side of the Baltic Sea. The couple moved to Berlin more than a year ago and they managed to live in Berlin for ten months. Ilta is half German herself, and it has always been her dream to live in that country.
– When Troy and I started dating, he told me that “by the way, here’s the thing that my studies include that I have to go to Berlin for a year, for example”. I thought, what the heck – it felt like someone brought my dream to life and I stated that of course I would go along, he said.
– I haven’t taken any kind of gap year since high school, so I also experienced the move a little like that.

However, Ilta had to finish her album in Finland, so she often flew from Germany to Finland. He could be away from Troy for a week or even a month. The artist does not feel that traveling back and forth has been difficult for him or the relationship.
– I think it was a relief in a certain way. I was completely in my work mode and when I went back I was able to get a vacation feeling. That’s why I understand people who live a little further away.
– I feel that then you realize what you have and value it even more. I prefer not to be away from home for long, because it’s cool to be together. I come from a big family, so I love that we are together, but at the same time we do our own things.
In all respects, living in Germany was a really wonderful experience, at least for Ilta. However, the couple ended up moving back to Finland in July.
– We had a window of time: we knew that we would move back, and that there would be an album release in Finland, upcoming program projects and so on. I get to live my dream and create my career here. It didn’t even occur to me to stop, even though Berlin is wonderful.
It remains to be seen if the couple will ever return to Germany. When the couple moved back to Finland, Ilta noticed a surprising difference between the two countries.
– My mother just told me that “you probably have more German in you than you think”. I was surprised how easy and good it was for me to be there. In Finland I might be a bit loud, especially when I was young I was described as such. Then again, the Germans don’t have that kind of teasing culture, which I personally liked.
