What exactly happened in Nieuw-Dordrecht on the night of 23 to 24 August is still not certain. It is clear, however, that there was no question of a shooting incident, as was initially reported.
That night, the police received a report that someone had been shot in Klazienaveensestraat. A 46-year-old man from Groningen is said to have been hit in the face. He was treated at the scene for his injuries.
It now appears that those injuries were not caused by a firearm. “The man had no gunshot wound,” said a police spokesperson. “We are still investigating what happened.” The victim is being spoken to, but any witnesses have not yet reported to the police.
