Fortuna Düsseldorf is working on signing Simon Zoller. The “Picture“ reports that the second division and the 32-year-old striker from VfL Bochum have reached an agreement on a transfer. However, there has been no contact between the clubs to date.
Nevertheless, the chances of closing the deal seem high. Zoller is one of five center forwards in the VfL squad and coach Thomas Letsch didn’t include him in the 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. In the two previous games in Stuttgart (0:5) and Bielefeld (3:6 nE) the attacker was used as a joker. His contract expires next year, and a permanent move to Düsseldorf is in the offing. A decision on the transfer could be made on Monday, it is said.

Zoller made 119 appearances for Bochum, Cologne, Kaiserslautern and Karlsruhe in the 2nd Bundesliga and contributed 40 goals and 19 assists – in no other competition has he played so often. In contrast, he entered the Bundesliga stage 114 times (17 goals/8 assists). In Düsseldorf, Zoller would be another alternative for coach Daniel Thioune, who has so far had Vincent Vermeij (29), Daniel Ginczek (32) and talented Jona Niemiec (21) up front.
