From September there will be a number of new laws and changes. There are three innovations for car owners – digital vehicle registration, changes to e-car subsidies and the new Euro 6e standard.

• E.ON announces price reduction

Vehicle registration goes digital

A new regulation that will come into force on September 1, 2023 will make it possible to apply for vehicle registrations online via the existing i-car portals of the federal states. In contrast to previous procedures, citizens no longer have to wait to receive the physical vehicle documents and stickers. Instead, they are allowed to drive for up to 10 days without these documents, with the digital notification of admission serving as sufficient proof. This means that, according to the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV), vehicle owners can immediately take part in road traffic after the new digital registration. dr Volker Wissing (FDP), Federal Minister for Digital Affairs and Transport, explained: “With our new regulation, we are making approval more digital, faster and cheaper”.

According to dpa, the company has not yet provided any more precise information about the exact scope, but a company spokesman stated that E.ON will reduce prices for millions of electricity and gas customers. Nevertheless, a further development of the Euro 6 emissions standard, known as Euro 6e, will come into force as early as September 1, 2023. According to information from ADAC, the first stage (EA) of this new standard stipulates that from September 2023 newly approved passenger car models and all vehicles registered for the first time from September 1st must meet the requirements of the first stage. According to ADAC, the Euro 6 standard includes adjustments to the measurement uncertainty for RDE measurements (Real Driving Emissions) and a further reduction in the agreement factors.
