Friends– worked as the screenwriter of the hit series Patty Lin has told about his less flattering experiences behind the scenes of the series. Lin talks about the difficult collaboration with the star actors of Frendi in his new book.

Lin joined the writing team for Frendi in its seventh season. He felt that the stars of the series were no longer fully involved in the series at that point. Frendie played the main roles Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry.

The screenwriter says in his book that he was excited when he was able to participate in the readings of the script with the star actors. However, the enthusiasm quickly subsided.

– The cast seemed tired of being stuck in this old, tired show when they could be trying something else. I felt that they were only thinking about how the script can serve themselves, Lin writes in his book.

According to him, the actors also deliberately sabotaged jokes that they didn’t like. According to the scriptwriter, the Actors mumbled such jokes during the Script reading so that something else would be written in their place. According to Lin, the creators of the series did not have enough courage to defend good jokes if the actor himself did not like them.

According to the screenwriter, the atmosphere was often tense during the first stages of the scenes, when the script had been changed for the first time. In these situations, the Actors got to share their opinion about the script, which they did smartly, according to Lin.

– They rarely had anything positive to say. While they did point out some problems, they rarely offered any viable solutions, Lin writes.

According to him, the Actors “protected” their own characters even aggressively. Lin worked as a writer on the series for only one season.
