Feyenoord trainer Arne Slot cannot count on Luka Ivanusec and Ondrej Lingr during the home game against Almere City FC on Sunday. Slot confirmed this on Friday during a press conference in the run-up to that match.
Ivanusec landed in the Netherlands on Friday morning and has yet to undergo a medical examination. He is therefore not eligible to play in time. ,,But since he played football on Thursday, I think that will be all right. How he was said goodbye to Dinamo Zagreb supporters says a lot about how he performed there,” said Slot.
,,He is a player who comes into his own from the left, but can also play well on 10. He is creative and good in small spaces, which is useful when you go to a team that has a lot of ball around the opponent’s penalty area.”
Lingr, who was presented to the national champion on Thursday, is suffering from a minor injury. Antoni Milambo and Patrik Wålemark are also not fully fit and are not included in the selection on Sunday.
‘Two points not expected’
Feyenoord played a draw in the first two matches of this season. ,,Of course I didn’t expect that we would have two points after two games”, said Slot. “We are still too dependent on luck and bad luck. The first game is the red card bad luck and in the game against Sparta their first two chances are a goal and we are unable to convert the many possessions into opportunities. And if we already have the chances, we won’t be able to finish them all.”
Slot hopes to see his team win against Almere. “If you play at home as a top club against the PhD student, you assume that you will get three points. It should also be clear that it is not as simple as I say it now.”
