A lot of work is being done by the municipalities to ensure that the more than 13 million people entitled to vote can vote in the municipal elections on 16 March. Minister Hanke Bruins Slot and Mayor Jan van Zanen took a look at a warehouse with materials for the election in The Hague.

Because on March 14, 15 and 16, every polling station must again be equipped with voting booths, ballot boxes, tables, cough screens, ballot papers, pencils and much more. During the tour, employees of The Hague talked about what it takes to ensure that we can all vote again in the future. That is why more than 1,000 voting booths and more than half a million voting pencils are stored in this warehouse.

In addition, The Hague, like many other municipalities, is committed to making polling stations more accessible. For example, the ‘voting mold’ makes it possible for people with a visual impairment to vote independently.

Hanke Bruins Slot: “It is a huge operation to ensure that all polling stations will soon be provided with the necessary materials again. Nearly 6000 volunteers are then active at those polling stations. These volunteers are extremely important to ensure that everyone can vote. Many thanks before that!”.
