The three women who filed a report against Thijs Römer in the online sexual assault case say they are ‘angry’ and ‘disappointed’ that the actor has decided to appeal.
Their lawyer Maartje Schaap reported this after reporting from RTL Boulevard. Römer reported on Tuesday that he will appeal against his three-month prison sentence, two of which are suspended. He “recognizes himself too little in the verdict”.
The court found it proven that the actor is guilty of criminally transgressive sexual behavior. He seduced the girls online to commit lewd acts on themselves and to send nude photos. That happened between November 2015 and November 2017 when the girls were 14, 15 and 16 years old.
According to lawyer Schaap, the three women cannot close the case due to the appeal. “Now they have to wait a while. One of them said: I just don’t understand how he doesn’t realize he’s wrong. Why isn’t he working on himself? Now the story will start playing again.” According to the counselor, her clients are “angry that Römer does not accept his sentence”.
Not only Römer, but also the Public Prosecution Service is appealing. The Public Prosecution Service wants the court to rule on a fact for which Römer was acquitted, namely the unexpected sending of a nude photo.
