Madonna tells her fans it’s “great to be alive” after celebrating her 65th birthday on August 16. The news comes after her recent stay in intensive care due to a bacterial infection. In addition, after her hospitalization, Madonna was forced to postpone several concerts for health reasons.
Now, the singer has shared an update on social media showing her celebrating her 65th birthday with friends and family, confirming she is almost fully recovered after her family “prepared for the worst” after the incident “ was.
On her official Instagram page, Madonna, whose real name is Madonna Louise Ciccone, shared a montage of clips from her birthday celebration, which took place in Portugal, on Friday (18 August).
“It’s awesome to be alive……..and amazing to be able to put on my dancing shoes and celebrate my birthday! I am so grateful,” she wrote. “Thanks to Lisbon and to everyone who made this possible!”
With her 1990 classic “Vogue” playing in the background, the montage shows the musician with close friends on a boat, horseback riding on the beach, dancing, having dinner and singing along to Elton John’s “Your Song”.
