The Matildas come out of the cabin with a lot of pressure: Carpenter is able to assert himself on the right flank, but then fails to reach Kerr in the penalty area with her cross. Eriksson beheads the leather from the danger zone.

10:57
Mid-term conclusion:
Sweden deservedly lead 1-0 against Australia after 45 minutes! The Europeans had a number of good chances and found speed in their actions in attack. Australia, on the other hand, can rarely assert itself in a direct duel and simply cannot get into dangerous final positions. The narrow lead is more than deserved so far.

10:53
After a free-kick, Kerr finishes from a tight angle on the right side of the penalty area, but only hits Mušović’s body. Then Foord stays down after a collision and is treated. It’s still not halftime here.
45+5
10:52
Gorry and Asllani clash after a foul game. The dispute is quickly settled, however, and the referee leaves it at warning words.
45+4
10:51
Blackstenius is up on the right and away with only Polkinghorne ahead of him. In a direct duel, she wants to finish on the right in the penalty area, but the ball slips over her instep, so that the shot clearly goes wide to the right.
45+2
10:50
Huge chance for Sweden! Following the yellow card, Asllani spooned the ball from the right half-space onto the second post. Angeldal suddenly gets the ball there, which immediately closes flat from ten meters. Arnold has a blocked view, dives into the left corner and fends off the leather to the side. Australia currently has no access to the game.

10:47
The shaky Polkinghorne plays the ball straight into Blackstenius’ path on a back pass. She is lucky that the attacker looks a bit surprised and the leather stumbles. Australia is not getting going at all.
43
10:46
Australia wants to attack, Sweden has the chance! Cooney-Cross gets stuck on the left flank, allowing Sweden to win the ball and switch quickly. Blackstenius gets the ball to Rolfö, who shoots with her weak right in the penalty area. The ball rushes just past to the right.
41
10:43
Angeldal also tried it near the right corner of the penalty area with a powerful shot from a tight angle, but it went a good meter over the crossbar.
40
10:42
Good finish from Asllani! Rubensson used Andersson on the left, who immediately crossed in the direction of the penalty spot with the first contact. Captain Asllani is waiting there, taking the ball out of the air in a technically demanding manner. But the shot is a bit too central and can be intercepted by Arnold.

10:41
Australia are establishing themselves in the opposition half but just can’t get through against compact Swedes. After a great tackle by Rubensson, Sweden wants to switch, but Asllani’s pass in the direction of Rytting Kaneryd then gets stuck on Hunt.
35
10:37
Angeldal tries to send Rytting Kaneryd down on the right, the ball goes behind the chain between the central and external defenses, but is a bit too steep. The winger fails to reach the ball before it spins out of goal.
33
10:35
Australia are struggling for an answer: Carpenter spoons the ball right into the interface to Kerr, who takes the ball brilliantly at first but is then interrupted by Eriksson. In the end she can finish, but her shot hops past the gate to the left.

Tooor for Sweden, 1-0 through Fridolina Rolfö
Rolfö uses the big chance and puts Sweden in the lead. The Barca player pushes flat into the right corner with pinpoint accuracy. Arnold is in the corner, but cannot defuse the precise shot.
28
10:29
Penalty for Sweden! Hunt runs into the attacker’s heels in the running duel Blackstenius and brings her down. It’s a reasonable decision. After VAR intervention, the referee points to the point.
26
10:29
Suddenly the aluminum rattles on the other side! A great pass is served by Blackstenius in depth, which lays out on the right side to Asllani. Your cross arrives in the center at Rolfö, who wants to head into the far corner. Her conclusion smacks the bar and bounces back into the field from there.
23
10:26
Australia is now on the trigger! After a great combination on the right, Capenter crosses to the left near the baseline, where Raso asks Björn to dance and shoots from nine meters. Mušović is just able to deflect her shot from the near corner to the side. As in the semi-finals, Australia need a few minutes to get into the game – now they determine the game.
21
10:24
The co-host wants to switch with speed, Raso drives the leather forward on the left side. Her pass towards Foord in the last third is sloppy, however, so that Ilestedt splashes in between. There was much more possible for the Matildas!
18
10:21
There is Australia’s first orderly attack: Raso is able to assert himself after a nice combination on the right, then returns to the center in the penalty area, from where the leather comes to the free foord on the right. Her cross is cleared by Eriksson in front of a waiting opponent. It’s the first hint of danger in the Swedish penalty area.
15
10:19
Australia dares to go to vonre via Gorry on the left, but she can get caught on Ilestedt’s long leg near the baseline. The Matildas just haven’t come through decisively yet.
13.
10:16
The ball is now running better for the Europeans. They combine quickly through midfield, but Andersson’s switch to Rytting Kaneryd then fails. Sweden now seems to be a little more powerful in the last third.
10
10:13
Australia play a 4-3-3 formation against the ball today, with Raso dropping into midfield. Sweden seems surprised by this and hasn’t been able to assert itself decisively since the good chance at the beginning. Arnold easily plucks a Rolfö cross from the left out of the air.
7.
10:09 a.m
The co-hosts are awarded a free kick near the left edge of the box which Catley crosses towards the first post. But there is a Swede who is balancing the leather with her head out of the danger zone.
5.
10:07
Sweden are clearly in control of the game in the opening minutes and are looking for gaps in Australia’s defence. After losing the ball, they immediately go into counter-pressing and quickly win the ball back. Australia hardly comes into switching moments.
2.
10:04
Sweden has the first good chance! The Scandinavians free themselves from a pressing moment with a one-two, then Blackstenius has space on the right in the penalty area, but hesitates a little too long. Arnold deflects her low shot to the long corner from ten meters to the side. Sweden gets into the game well!

10:02 a.m
The ball is rolling – the game for 3rd place is on! Sweden plays in yellow, Australia in blue jerseys.
09:44
Both teams will also compete in the match for 3rd place with their top line-up. The ailing star player Rolfö continues to attack for the Swedes, Arsenal’s Blackstenius and Milan’s Asllani also start on the offensive. In Australia, top talent Fowler plays alongside Kerr in the doubles, in midfield Cooney-Cross and Gorry form the axis. In central defence, cornerstone Kennedy is still missing – the loss of the robust defender could be expensive for Australia.
09:37
Australia completely slept through the first round in the semifinals, but then woke up. Kerr’s stroke of genius in the semifinals wasn’t enough for Australia, however, as England were able to exploit a misunderstanding in Australia’s defence. Australia come with a lot of speed on the flanks, especially with Foord, and captain Catley often has a big influence on the game in her full-back position. Attacking play is centered on star player Kerr, who is now fully fit after injury.
09:20
Sweden came in the past games mainly through physicality. In addition to the longest running distance in the semi-finals, the team has players with Ilestedt and Co that are extremely strong in the air. Björn is indispensable in the build-up, who often drops down next to the central defenders on her right side and opens the game from there. The Swedish game was therefore extremely right-leaning in the tournament. On offense, Rytting Kaneryd’s pace often causes problems for opposing defences.
09:11
While Sweden prevailed in the group stage with 9 points without showing any footballing skills, Australia only got 6 points there. The Matildas struggled at the start of the tournament, but in their final group game they defeated co-favorites Canada 4-0. Since then they threw out not only Denmark but also France. Australia lost to England in the semi-finals while Sweden lost to Spain. Both teams clearly improved during the course of the tournament – so it should be an entertaining game today.
