No rental possible? BVB on City-Güne

Borussia Dortmund would like to upgrade for the new season, above all they are looking for a breaker for the offensive, they say. BVB could now have found this at Manchester City. Cole Palmer plays there, which is not the first time that Black and Yellow have been an issue. The only thing is that it probably won’t end in a loan, as it was called a while ago.

After “The Athletic” and “Bild” reported about two months ago that Borussia Dortmund had an eye on Manchester City’s Cole Palmer, “Sport1” is now warming up the rumors again and supporting them with further information that is a little different sound like mid-June.

The following also applies: BVB is said to be very interested in the young Englishman, who only a few days ago scored for City in the important 1-1 equalization in regular time in the later 6-5 win (iE) over FC Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup. What is new is that there are now said to be direct talks between those responsible for BVB and the representatives of the English champions about whether the 21-year-old top talent should be released from Manchester and at what price.

BVB: According to Guardiola, Palmer’s loan is not an issue

“Sport1” speculates that Palmer, who fits perfectly into Borussia’s current prey scheme due to his height of 1.89 meters, could be too expensive for the Bundesliga runner-up. Significantly more than 18 million euros are probably necessary to be able to sign the versatile offensive man, who can act both as an attacking midfielder and as a striker as well as on the (right) wing. It is quite possible that BVB will have to get rid of bench pressers beforehand in order to flush money into the coffers.

While the speculation about Palmer in June was still about a loan, everything now boils down to a permanent transfer, it is said. Appropriately, City team manager Pep Guardiola said after the Super Cup triumph: “I don’t think there will be a loan, he will stay or be sold.”

Left-footed Palmer is aiming for regular playing time, which he is currently not getting with the Citizens. Under Guardiola, the 21-year-old Englishman is usually only required as a joker.

Palmer’s contract with Man City, for which he played 25 games in all competitions last season (one goal, one assist), is dated until 2026.
