Bayer 04 Leverkusen apparently want to step up their game again in attack. After the “Werkself” strengthened this summer with Jonas Hofmann and Victor Boniface, Nathan Tella should also come. For the 24-year-old from FC Southampton, according to the English “Telegraph” submitted an offer of 18 million euros – exactly the current market value of the right winger.
During the week, the first reports of Leverkusen’s interest had already emerged, which are now becoming more concrete. Tella comes from the Arsenal youth team and joined the Saints in 2017. There he had to wait a comparatively long time for his breakthrough. It was only in February 2021 that the Englishman was in the starting XI for the first time in the Premier League, his first and so far only goal in the top flight followed three months later.
Bayer should have found the reasons for the multi-million dollar offer last season. There, Tella was supposed to gain match practice at Burnley FC in the Championship on loan and shot the “Clarets” with 17 goals and five assists for promotion. His contract at Southampton, which sold players for €153m after relegation, ends in 2025.
