Gosens describes the advantage of union changes

Newcomer Robin Gosens also sees advantages for his further career in the German national team in his move to the Bundesliga club Union Berlin.

National coach Hansi Flick can now “see him live in the stadium more often than was previously possible,” said Gosens, who switched from Inter Milan to Köpenick, in the Sky interview.

He and Flick stayed in touch throughout the transfer period. “I always used him as an adviser and contact person. He was very happy that I found my way to the Bundesliga,” said Gosens, who played for the first time on Sunday in the home game against FSV Mainz 05 (3:30 p.m. / DAZN). in the Bundesliga: “He only encouraged me in my decision to do this now. He didn’t specifically advise me to go with Union. He’s a person who kept telling me: listen to your feelings.”

Gosens has big plans for last year’s fourth-placed Union, who are playing in the Champions League for the first time. “We have the quality to play a very important role. We shouldn’t hide ourselves,” said Gosens: “Whoever plays in the Champions League must have ambitions.” He didn’t come to Berlin to play to stay up.

The 29-year-old considers the move to Union to be the right decision. “In my home country, people always say: It fits like a glove. In my case, you can use this expression well,” said Gosens: “The decision to transfer ultimately took a while, but it was basically an easy one me.”
