Alexander Sorloth leaves RB Leipzig. The Bundesliga club announced this after the friendly against Udinese Calcio (1: 2) on Tuesday evening. The Norwegian striker joins Spanish first division side FC Villarreal. The transfer fee should be around 10 million euros. RB Leipzig had initially hoped for proceeds of around 15 million euros.
The sale of the 27-year-old ends a three-year misunderstanding. In 2020, the national player was signed by Crystal Palace for 20 million euros. Sørloth was supposed to replace Timo Werner (27), who had moved to Chelsea, but was never able to establish himself as a regular in the squad of the DFB Cup winner. In his first season, the tall attacker made 37 appearances in which he scored six goals.

During the winter break of the following season he was loaned out to Real Sociedad San Sebastián for the first time in the Spanish LaLiga, last season he played again for the Basques on loan and scored 16 goals in 47 appearances. Sørloth has now signed a five-year contract with Villarreal.
